What to expect from the Oscars on Sunday

The Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay have been announced.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the winners for the Best Picture category on Sunday, March 11, 2017, in Los Angeles.

Here’s how the awards are determined. 

For the first time in the Academy’s 113-year history, this is the first year in which a movie that won Best Picture and Best Director is nominated for two Oscars in the same year.

The Academy announced that it will award the Oscars for Best Motion Picture and Screenplay in two separate categories. 

The nominees for Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress will be announced on Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2017.

The nominees for Cinematography and Sound Editing will be unveiled on Monday, March 19, 2017 at the ceremony, and the winners will be officially announced on Tuesday, March 20, 2017 and announced on Thursday, March 21, 2017 on NBC.

The Oscars will be presented on Monday night, March 23, 2017 by James Corden.

The ceremony will air live on ABC. 

On Monday, April 3, the ceremony will be broadcast on NBC and ABC.
